Montmartre is the last village in the big city of Paris. It still
keeps a very subtle and unique atmosphere in spite
of the affluence
of tourists from all over the world.
When we were
dating I promised to take Margaret to Paris someday. Well, someday came some 19 years later.
Margaret has always wanted to have her picture sketched by an artist in Paris. This guy was
from some former communist country and has spent time in the United States. I thought he
did a good job - Margaret is certainly "sketch-able" (!). We are just around the back
of Sacre Coeur, the iron railing is that of the church grounds.

Pay attention.
Montmartre can be very crowded during the weekends.
Go there in the morning and on weekdays.

I really enjoyed this area. I have been told to be careful here at night.

The many painters of Place du Tertre are always
ready to sketch out your face. They remind us of the many pennyless
artists who lived there a Bohemian life in the early 20th century
(Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso among others).

One artist made a painting from a photograph someone supplied him (upper left).
The picture (above right) is of a crepe being made for us. The fellow had
a little street wagon and made crepes for you as you watched.
