There were two giant pools. No hot tubs, though. They had a
partially shaded area encircling the pool area where many many
hammocks were strung. I don't know where to discuss the adult
beverages, but this is as good a place as any. Margaret and I
don't go overboard on free drinks, so booze isn't a priority for
us. But the drinks here were pretty lame. Everything tasted
like everything else. I stopped drinking by the middle of
the week.

Here we are at the Mexican restaurant. Every guest gets one dinner
at the Mexican restaurant and one at the Spanish restarant. Just
consider that the food comes from the same kitchens that make
the buffet food. The atmosphere was nice, though. Just one more
thing about the food. I began to take less and less food as the
week went on, and even so would leave things on my plate. I
felt bad about this, but noticed many other people leaving food
unfinished on thier plates. Some folks did seem to enjoy the
food, but not many. Ugh.

Here are some of the walkways between buildings. If we left our camera
in the air-conditioned room and then took them outside, the pictures
would be fogged over. We learned to put our camera out on the balcony
a few hours before we were going to use them.

A veiw from our building to the central building.

One of the lobbies, viewed from the outside. The other lobby is
the Barcelo Maya Beach.

Just after we got to Mexico the war in Iraq started. On our early
morning beach walks we would see "carbinaros" or police armed with
automatic weapons. They are there for the safety of the guests, but
it is freaky to see these heavily armed dudes on the beach.
