4j.jpg Margaret on the climb. The tour guide offered bottled water for us to carry along during the walk and climb. You definitely need to bring water! We had a bottle for each of the five of us, plus I carried an extra. We could have used even more. The younger two kids seemed to wilt just before we reached this pyramid, but found their second wind when confronted with this climb.
4l.jpg Another, shorter pyramid rises from the jungle floor.
4m.jpg In the distance you can see a lake. There is something like four lakes in this general area. That is why people could live here in ancient times. Remember that when Mayan civilization peaked here all the trees had been cut down.
4n.jpg Everyone is in a good mood here at the top. Note somebody else carrying bottled water.
4p.jpg At the top is this doorway leading to a very small room with no windows.
4q.jpg On the right is the carving for the ascending god. On the left is the carving for the descending god.
4r.jpg Here is a close up of a smaller pyramid. The trees are in the process of leafing out, which gives an interesting effect.
