We made it across the border -after I got yelled at for standing in the wrong spot.
The U.S. customs workers are under high pressure and frazzled so don't piss them off.
We are on our way through the park to see the rapids and the falls.

The United States’ part of Niagara Falls is in the Niagara Falls State Park (sometimes called "New York State Park" or "Niagara Reservation State Park"). Started in 1885, the park is the oldest state park in the United States. It was landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted who was one of the initiators and designers of the Niagara Falls State Park but he is better known for another creation - New York City's Central Park
|
The park encompasses all of the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Goat Island (and surrounding islands), and about one third of Horseshoe Falls.
The rapids approaching the American Falls, visible only on the American side, roar through the middle of the park and around the several small islands before toppling over the brink of the American Falls. The rapids reach speeds of up to 25 miles per hour. To be clear, this view is American Falls.

I like this photo - it's taken looking upstream of the American Falls.

We walked across the bridge and now are approaching Bridal Veil Falls from the other
direction. The small bridge in the foreground leads to Luna Island. The bridge
crosses over what will become Bridal Veil Falls. The picture on the right is taken
from the bridge.

The view looking down Bridal Veil Falls ... we will head down there next. The fellow
wearing the orange attire is standing on the Hurricane Deck level, which I will talk about
on the next page. It's very
hot so we stopped for a soda at the shops near where you buy your ticket to Cave of
the Winds. Again, like Table Rock, another attraction named for something that no
longer exists.

One last look ...

A slightly different view showing a little more broken rock at the bottom of the falls.
